20 – I Found You In This Breath

5/3/21

Over the course of a year, I’m never quite as mindful as I am in the spring.

Spring is the greatest sensory delight. The smells of honeysuckle, mown grass, rainfall, tulips and daffodils and violets. Burgeoning greens, blue on blue. Temperate winds, heat from the sun on your shoulders, a spring storm that surprises you and leaves your skin wet and your curls springy. Iced coffee and fresh strawberries. Thank you thank you thank you.

I’m emerging – as are you. Our heavy bedclothes washed and put away, houseplants on the front porch and thoughts a little more adrift on the breeze.

I’m emerging, as are you, into this moment here and now. This moment that holds the result of each bit of wintery blistery contemplation and each lonely echo and each clean dry hand. This moment that holds each of yesterday and each of tomorrow and bears you stably and comfortably in a nowness that sees your pain, your worry and says, “I am in this moment, I am in this breath.”

There is rest in your arms. There is peace in your heart. There is silence in your mind.

I’m emerging. As are you.

Lightly,
Leah
